Students of Grade VIII from SMPS Harapan Prestasi successfully completed the Live In 2026 program held from April 27–30, 2026, in Dukuh Segajih, Hargotirto Village, Kokap District, Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta. The program was designed to provide students with real-life learning experiences by living together with local families and participating directly in the daily activities of the village community.
The Live In program aimed to strengthen students’ character, independence, empathy, social awareness, teamwork, and appreciation for culture and the environment. During the four-day program, students stayed in local homestays and experienced village life firsthand through various meaningful activities.
The students showed great enthusiasm throughout the program. They warmly welcomed every activity prepared by the organizing committee and the residents of Dukuh Segajih. In return, the local community also received the students with exceptional hospitality and kindness, creating a memorable atmosphere for everyone involved.
During the program, students participated in many cultural and educational activities such as batik making, learning to produce traditional palm sugar, creating traditional food, exploring the village, playing traditional gamelan music, dancing, outbound activities, painting in nature, and joining community gatherings around the village. These experiences allowed students to learn beyond the classroom while building deeper connections with the local culture and people.
Many students shared that they were deeply touched by the kindness and sincerity of their foster parents and the villagers. They enjoyed the delicious homemade meals, the fresh natural environment, and the peaceful atmosphere of the village. Some students even expressed that four days felt too short because they already felt as if Segajih had become their second home.
The success of the Live In 2026 program would not have been possible without the support and dedication of the organizing committee, teachers, local residents, and foster families who welcomed the students wholeheartedly. This program became not only a learning journey but also a valuable life experience that will remain in the hearts of the students for years to come.
Through activities like Live In 2026, SMPS Harapan Prestasi continues its commitment to providing holistic education that develops not only academic excellence but also compassion, independence, cultural appreciation, and social responsibility among its students.
