Indonesia, the world’s fourth most populous country, celebrates its Independence Day every year on August 17. The country announced its independence on August 17, 1945, at the tail end of the Japanese occupation, and then fought for four years against the Dutch before their independence was recognized by their former colonial lord. More than just a holiday, it is a profound celebration of freedom, unity, and national pride.
In SHP, it started with the Flag Raising Ceremony led by selected students from the Primary and Secondary levels. It was followed by competitions and games involving both students and teachers. Everyone had fun! Joining the different games made all the students extra happy and made the event memorable and special. Looking forward to the next year’s event! Long live Indonesia!
