Life Skills

Life Skills is a scheduled enrichment learning program designed to develop students’ essential daily life abilities. It helps students build independence, responsibility, discipline, and problem-solving skills through meaningful and practical experiences. This program focuses not only on academic growth but also on preparing students to face real-life situations confidently.

Life skills may cover various areas such as:

  • Personal care (e.g., maintaining hygiene, grooming, managing personal belongings)
  • Household skills (e.g., cleaning, organizing, basic cooking, washing dishes)
  • Health and safety (e.g., first aid basics, understanding healthy habits)
  • Social and emotional skills (e.g., communication, teamwork, empathy, decision-making)
  • Environmental awareness (e.g., waste management, recycling, gardening)
  • Financial literacy basics (e.g., understanding needs vs. wants, simple budgeting)
  • Community responsibility (e.g., helping others, community service)

Many schools implement life skills through engaging and structured weekly sessions. For example:

  • Primary students learn how to brush their teeth properly, tie shoelaces, fold clothes, prepare healthy snacks, or keep their study area clean.
  • Upper primary classes practice washing dishes, following simple recipes, sorting waste into organic and non-organic, planting vegetables or herbs, and basic sewing.
  • Middle school students may learn basic financial planning, public speaking, time management, first aid response, and household repairs such as fixing a loose button or assembling simple furniture.
  • Some schools also integrate community-based life skills, such as visiting orphanages, conducting charity projects, or organizing cleanliness campaigns in the school environment.

Through this program, students are expected not only to master practical skills but also to develop positive character traits such as independence, perseverance, cooperation, and respect for others.
