SHP Students Explore Math and Science Through Fun Learning in MASCIE 2025/2026

Kramat Jati, Jakarta Timur – Oktober 2025 – Sekolah Harapan Prestasi successfully conducted the MASCIE 2025/2026 (Math and Science Integrated Experience) program from 1–3 October 2025. The program involved students from Primary 1 to Primary 6 and aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of Mathematics and Science through meaningful, hands-on, and enjoyable learning experiences.

The event began with Mathematics activities. For Primary 1 and 2, students participated in a board game challenge titled “Fun Snakes and Ladders”. Through this classic game, students practiced counting, number recognition, and logical thinking in a fun and interactive way. Meanwhile, Primary 3 to 6 students took part in the Math Quiz Bee, a friendly team competition that tested their problem-solving skills, accuracy, and cooperation. The quiz bee featured two rounds—Elimination and Final—designed to build students’ confidence in applying mathematical concepts.

The Science segment of MASCIE offered a series of engaging experiments. Primary 1 and 2 students enjoyed the Dancing Corn experiment, observing how gas bubbles produced from a mixture of baking soda and vinegar made popcorn kernels float and move as if they were dancing. Primary 3 and 4 students were amazed by the Self-Inflating Balloon experiment, where they created carbon dioxide gas that expanded a balloon without blowing into it. Primary 5 and 6 students learned about electricity in a creative way by generating power from potatoes in the Potato Electricity experiment, successfully lighting a small LED using simple materials like potatoes, copper, and zinc.

“Learning does not only happen in the classroom. Through activities like these, students experience science and math in real life, making learning more meaningful,” said one of the science teachers during the event.

Students were enthusiastic throughout the program. Many expressed how much they enjoyed learning while experimenting. “I didn’t know potatoes could make electricity. It was really fun and exciting!” said one Primary 6 student.

Principal Gunawan, M.Pd. appreciated the teamwork and dedication of teachers and students during the program, stating, “Through MASCIE, we want to build a learning culture that encourages curiosity, teamwork, and creativity. This program reflects our commitment to preparing students with skills for the future while still enjoying the learning process.”

The MASCIE 2025/2026 program successfully combined academic learning with creativity and character building. SHP remains committed to developing innovative educational programs that support students’ growth in critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.
